Savvy

Savvy is from our 'Pirates of the Carribean' Litter. We weren't planning on keeping Savvy...but, after you spend any time with this AMAZINGLY sweet, mellow boy...you'll know why he never ended up leaving!

Savvy LOVES the water and has been one of the youngest of our dogs to ever start swimming. He will stand under our fountain and just let it trickle on him like a shower and is constantly in the pond.

Savvy won 'Best Puppy' at the GSMDCA 2016 National Specialty - he won all four 6-9 puppy dog classes (regular and sweeps) that he was in at both the National and Independent trailer show - he finished his CHampionship at just 10 months of age - the youngest I've ever had finish!

Savvy has done well in all the performance venues he's competed in. He is a natural on the drafting cart and has well over 15 passing performances in his drafting career (a tough sport that lots of dogs are lucky to only get one pass in their lifetime)...some as an individual and others with a variety of brace partners. His slow and steady nature while a struggle in the obedience ring definitely makes for a calm, relaxing, and reliable drafting partner between the cart shafts though! He has helped many a new dog to get used to the cart by being their brace partner. You can practically see him roll his eyes at their newbie antics and the 'calm down, it's just a cart' thought bubble over his head. After more NQs than any dog I've ever done obedience with, he did manage to finally get his CD title (and VGS - versatility greater swiss) with a lot of teamwork (I put one leg on him, Annette put on a 2nd, and Dave finished the job). He just couldn't see the point in wasting all that energy by staying close on heel free when he could just wait in the middle for you and let you get in your steps and catch back up at the end.

He weight pulls and pack hiked just like all his other events...slow and steady! Doug and he managed to get the top level pack dog title (WPDX) by completing 19 hikes together. In the weight pull chute he knows his job, you hook him up and he'll work with no fuss or drama; but, it's all based on his mood. Sometimes he will awe you with some amazing pulls and the very next day he'll act like he can't even pull half of what he did the day before. And unfortunately if he's not in the mood there is no convincing him. But, despite this attitude he's managed to earn his platinum ACE title in weight pull which is a VERY top level title that few other swissies have earned!

Probably his biggest claim to fame though is his 'play dead' trick that he proudly shows off to any visitors. He's given us several beautiful litters and stamped most of his kids with his big, pretty head; love for water; and, sweet personality!
